Kinghorn Insurance Agency began operation in 1898 as a small operation in the back of a hardware store in Beaufort, SC. Beaufort remained its sole location until 1973 when it opened a second location on Palmetto Bay Road on Hilton Head Island. In 1977, the office manager retired and James L Rowe took over. In 1992, a third location was opened in Bluffton and in 1999 a fourth office was opened in Ridgeland, SC.
