Founded in 1983, the Emerald People's Utility District is a nonprofit, public power utility. The district serves more than 19,000 customers that include businesses, churches, schools, farms, irrigators, and residential and industrial units. It receives and serves its electricity through substations, including Marcola, Pleasant Hill, Creswell, Cheshire, Powerline, Noti and Latham. The Emerald People's Utility District has over 24,000 distribution and over 350 transmission poles. The district provides several energy-saving and promotional programs.
