South Central Public Power District is a non-profit electric distribution system, which provides low-cost electricity to rural Clay, Nuckolls and Webster counties and portions of Adams, Fillmore, Thayer and Hamilton counties in Nebraska. Based in Nelson, Neb., it is one of 31 rural electric utilities in Nebraska. The firm serves over 7,200 meters and operates over 2,300 mile of line. South Central Public Power District offers various services, such as billing, area lighting program, youth energy camp and various types of electric heat, including electric furnace, add-on heat pump, ground source heat pump, cove heating and baseboard heaters, to name a few.
