The City Attorney s Office provides legal advice to the mayor, city council, departments, committees and commissions of the city of Lincoln, Neb. The office also initiates and defends legal actions on behalf of the city, which may include appeals of city actions, labor relations, condemnations, civil rights and contract disputes. The office also prosecutes misdemeanor offenses, such as traffic and motor vehicle violations, general peace and moral offenses, building codes and health violations. Its attorneys draft and review contracts, ordinances, resolutions, deeds, executive orders, certificates of insurance, and various applications and permits.
