Founded in 1939, White River Valley Electric Cooperative serves the Missouri counties of Christian, Douglas, Ozark, Stone and Taney. The company is part of a utility network that consists of six regional and more than 50 local electric cooperative systems in Missouri, Iowa and Oklahoma. Together, this network of cooperatives serves more than 750,000 homes and businesses, which represents nearly 2 million individual consumers. White River Valley Electric offers its members the option of purchasing blocks of renewable energy resources, which are derived from solar, wind, hydro, geothermal or biomass, such as nutshells and corn fiber. White River Valley Electric Cooperative employs 130 people and is based in Branson, Mo.
