Incorporated in 2000, Northern States Power Company-Minnesota is engaged in the generation, purchase, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. It purchases, transports, distributes and sells natural gas to retail customers. The company provides electric utility service to more than 1million customers and natural gas utility service to approximately 500,000 customers. Northern States Power Company-Minnesota maintains an electric production and transmission system and owns United Power and NSP Nuclear Corporation. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Xcel Energy, which serves electric and natural gas customers in Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota.
