Massachusetts State Carpenters Pension Fund Plan, governed by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, was established in 1962 to provide retirement benefits to supplement social security. Under various collective bargaining agreements, signatory employers make contributions to the fund on behalf of their carpenter, millwright, pile driver and floor-coverer employees. Benefits under this plan are provided to participants at retirement or sooner, if a union member becomes permanently disabled from working at the trade. To earn a pension credit, a member must work a minimum of 1,400 hours in any calendar year. Some of the pension benefits offered through the fund include regular, early, disability, vested, pro rata, and service pensio
