The Ruston Public Works Department maintains city-owned streets and public drainage systems and is located in Ruston, La. It also provides various services, including garbage and trash collection, an animal shelter and animal control services, construction inspections and code enforcement, community development and fleet management. Its street and drainage division services include street sweeping, mowing and litter control. Its solid waste division provides garbage, yard trash and bulky item collection services for residential and commercial customers. Its animal control division supports the humane treatment of animals through operation of the Ruston animal shelter, educational programs, and enforcement of city and state law
