Integrative medicine (also called complementary medicine) includes a variety of therapies that are meant to balance the body physically, mentally and emotionally. It is meant to be used in conjunction with conventional medicine.  It is often confused with alternative medicine, which is used instead of conventional medicine. Integrative therapy, used in addition to conventional medical therapy, can increase its effects, promoting improved healing, reduced stress, and overall improvement in feelings of well-being.
