American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, founded in 1969, is an organization of psychiatrists, promoting scientific and educational activities in the field of forensic psychiatry. The organization has more than 1,500 members in North America and throughout the world. It develops ethical guidelines for forensic psychiatry and provides information to the public through a speaker's bureau and printed collateral.
