Since 1969 the Northwest Alabama Mental Health Center has grown in its ability to provide services to the mentally ill, those with intellectual disabilities, and persons suffering from chemical dependency in the 5 county area. In this 5 county area, no one is to be more than 20 minutes away from services. The Center prides itself in the quality of services and the well-developed continuum of care. There is a heavy emphasis on services to children, families, and geriatric age groups as well as the seriously mentally ill, those with intellectual disabilities and those suffering from chemical dependenc
